Washington: New details have emerged about the alleged psychological and physical abuse faced by young women in the luxury apartments and private islands of American billionaire Jeffrey Epstein. Molchanova, a young woman who arrived in New York from Russia at the age of 22, has spoken about what she described as severe psychological and physical abuse after becoming caught in Epstein’s alleged trap.

According to Molchanova, Epstein first approached her on a street in New York and presented himself as an extremely polite person. After learning about her interest in fashion design and the fashion industry, he allegedly offered to help her study at a prominent fashion institute in New York and promised to introduce her to leading figures in the field.

Later, while she was in Paris after an argument with her boyfriend, Molchanova said Epstein offered to help her and moved her to his luxury apartment in New York. Several other young women were also staying there, she said. According to her account, this was where the alleged abuse began.

Molchanova said she was completely confused at the time and took a long time to realise that she had fallen into a serious trap. She alleged that Epstein maintained complete control over every aspect of the young women’s lives. Although they were given credit cards, she said they were required to photograph receipts for every purchase and send them to him.

She also alleged that the phones and laptops provided by Epstein were directly connected to his accounts, allowing him to monitor their messages. According to Molchanova, he dictated what clothes the women should wear, how they should style their hair and even what their body weight should be. She said that when they refused to comply with his demands, he would allegedly shout, threaten and, at times, lock them inside rooms.

Molchanova recalled that she was once allegedly confined to a room for around 24 hours. She also said she was kept completely isolated for two or three days on a private island owned by Epstein and was not allowed to communicate with friends or family.According to her account, women staying in the apartment were also forced to bring new girls to Epstein. Molchanova said she faced severe punishment when she refused to do so.

She further said that she experienced severe depression and requested permission to see a therapist, but Epstein allegedly refused. Molchanova said she was afraid to approach police or other security agencies because of Epstein’s alleged connections with influential political leaders and billionaires and feared that doing so could put her life at risk.
